East Bay Jay
One of the founding members of Tekno House Collective, (T.H.C.) East Bay Jay has been showcasing his skills since the late 90.s. Born in San Diego but raised outside of Oakland California, East Bay Jay experienced the vast musical diversity that the Bay Area had to offer. In the mid 90.s East Bay Jay discovered the SF Rave scene. The unity and acceptance of all the folks in the scene was highly attractive to him. Soon after the discovery of this scene, East Bay Jay could be found helping crew.s all around the bay with their events and promotion. Soon after that he decided that his love and passion for house music would only be fulfilled by committing himself to becoming a DJ. Influenced by house producers, DJ Sneak, Doc Martin, Hipp-e and Halo, East Bay Jay began to DJ house music. With a wide range from Funky to Morning House, East Bay Jay quickly began to gain ground in the underground SF scene. Soon after he had begun to DJ, he became a resident with Happy Kids, under the DJ name of Brak. Then in 1999 East Bay Jay and a few friends created Amphibious Funk Productions, which was a smaller group of DJ.s and artists with a smaller vision. This new crew was more influenced by the smaller word of mouth type of events, as well as free outdoor events. Things seemed to be rolling along full steam. East Bay Jay was playing out almost every weekend (under the old DJ name of Brak) as well as making an appearance on Live 105.s radio electronic music show, Subsonic. Then East Bay Jay picked up another residency with Ascension, which hosted a weekly at Blake.s on Telegraph. Then as the cities in the bay area started cracking down on the SF rave scene East Bay Jay and a group of close lifelong friends decided to reinvent themselves and created Tekno House Collective. This collective.s main focus was to be more of a renegade crew with events sprouting up out of nowhere with only a few day.s notice. This was East Bay Jay's true calling. Now you can find him DJ.ing at these renegade events all around the Bay Area.
